McDonald and Ruby, who were married in 2021, are already parents to baby girl Bella (four) and son Leo (two).
The 31-year-old has played 210 matches, including a key role in the drought-breaking 2021 premiership.
After starting his career in defence, McDonald was turned into forward and kicked 53 goals in the 2018 season.
But he has failed to recapture that form and only managed a total of 17 games across the past two seasons due to form and injury issues.
McDonald has been training with the defensive group this pre-season as enters the final year of his contract.
