Hawthorn captain James Sicily has married partner Emma in Queensland ahead of the new AFL season.
The pair were engaged in September 2022 and the celebrations continued when Sicily won the club’s best and fairest days later.
Nearly 18 months on, family and friends were invited to Noosa’s Makepeace Island for the wedding and night-long celebrations on Friday.

The “island dream” party included a dip in the resort’s pool while Sicily also took on DJ duties.
Retired premiership star Isaac Smith, who finished up his career at Geelong, made the trip alongside the likes of Hawks greats Luke Breust, Jack Gunston and Ben Stratton.

Breust attended with wife Anthea, who is expecting their first child this year.
The groom’s current teammates Mitch Lewis, Jarman Impey and Blake Hardwick were joined at the wedding by several former teammates.
Bradley Hill, Tom Mitchell, Jaeger O’Meara and Liam Shiels all showed up for Sicily’s big day.
Sicily’s manager and Essendon premiership player Scott Lucas was also there.
Hawks coach Sam Mitchell was able to attend, having recovered from his New York health battle that landed him in hospital.

Mitchell was holidaying in the US with his wife and three children when he was hospitalised for seven nights over Christmas.
“It’s bacterial pneumonia, which means it’s quite treatable, but quite aggressive,” Mitchell told The Age.
“This condition infects the lungs and, if not treated quickly, can work through the body like Pac-Man.
“The first X-ray was like, oh, we can see some collapsing of the lung and the second X-ray, 24 or 36 hours later, (read) extensive collapsing of both lungs.”
