Family left devastated as former Adelaide Crows employee, 39, dies suddenly

A former Adelaide Crows staff member is being remembered as a “dearly loved husband” and “loving father” following his sudden passing.

Nick McArdle was just 39 when he passed away on November 30.

He leaves behind wife Veronica, and young children Freja and Neve.

McArdle had worked for the AFL club for seven years and finished as its executive general manager of strategy and projects eight weeks ago to start his own business.

He also had roles with the Breakthrough Mental Health Research Foundation and Crime Stoppers SA as a director of both.

A death notice written by members of his family appeared in the Adelaide Advertiser on Saturday.

In the notice, McArdle’s loved ones, including his parents and siblings, published lyrics from a John Williamson song, Flower on the Water.

“To hear your voice, to see you smile. To sit and talk to you awhile. To be together the same old way, would be our greatest wish today,” the tribute said.

A separate notice was published in the newspaper by his aunts, uncles and cousins.

“Nick will be forever loved and forever remembered,” the notice said.

“It is with a heavy heart we farewell our much loved nephew and cousin,” his family said.

“It has been an absolute privilege watching you grow up and sharing many, many joyous occasions and experiences.”
